A flag of the "al-Jama’ah al-Islamiyya" : الجماعة الإسلامية, "Assembly of
Islam" or "Islamic Group" (IG). It is a Sunni Islamist political party in
Lebanon. The IG was founded in 1964 as the Lebanese branch of the “Muslim
Brotherhood” (from Egypt). It was established by young members of “Ibad al
Rahman” (or the “Worshipers of the Merciful”). The IG’s military wing is the
"al-Fair Forces". This flag was observed in Lebanon atop the casket of Muhammad
Hamed Jabara, aka Abu Mahmoud, a senior commander of the IG's "al-Fajr Forces";
c. 19 July 2024. This white-field flag shows the group's logo at the top (but
with no red stripe), with probably the basic Muslim "shahada" ("profession of
faith") slogan at the bottom.
